Gordonston is the newest neighborhood in Savannah to be named to the National Register of Historic Places. The Gordonston Historic District was officially listed on October 11, 2001. Gordonston is a lovely planned subdivision laid out in the early 20th century by the noted Gordon family of Savannah. Their most famous member, Juliette Gordon Low, founded the Girl Scouts. This viable community was located on the streetcar line, which ran on Kinzie Avenue, heading to Thunderbolt. It offers wonderful examples of Neo-Classical, Colonial Revival and Arts and Crafts architecture. Gordonston is roughly bounded by Gwinnett Street to the north, Skidaway Road to the south, Goebel Avenue to the west and Pennsylvania Avenue to the east.
